To sum it up, this is absolutely one of my favorite yaoi mangas of all time. I positively adore it. Unique and exciting story, lovable characters, and not to mention, the stunning artwork. A lot of time and care was put into the art of this book, and you can definitely tell. It's beautiful, and also very unique. The artist certainly has her own take on the anime-look. Besides that, though, this is a prized piece in my manga collection. Not only do I highly recommend this, but I recommend volume two as well. I am waiting excitedly for volume three!

Crimson spell is one of the favorite yaoi! Everyone has pretty much said everything. The men are hot-even the main character when he turns into a "monster" is drop-dead-sexy. This series has everything-fantasy,sex, its cute and funny and great action. Very sweet love story too. I kinda felt bad for the wizard as he falls for monster but cant seem to tell him b/c as the prince he is not sure how he will react- The Bunny was so cute and funny. I like hardcore yaoi &there are some explicit sex scenes in here -MAY be too much for Some..but The thing with the plant was classic-expecially with what the wizard does after! too funny! anyways Just get it you wont regret it! plus this ayano stuff tends to sell out/out of print quickly so get it while u can before u have to pay 50 for a used copy or off ebay! that is what i had to do for Target in the finder =(......

The Crimson spell is a nice break away from the usual modern day, school boy genre yaoi/shonen-ai out there. The characters are absolutely beautiful, as lots of other reviews have already stated :) There's even a plot that doesn't revolve around sex or the main characters' relationship, but rather Vald's curse and how to break it. This book manages to break the mold of the average yaoi manga.
However, despite that, it didn't really manage to pull me in. The story seemed almost too familiar to other fantasy manga (but then, how much variety can there be within one genre?) and I didn't feel too attached to the characters. The lack of attachment was probably just because the plot isn't character driven, which is alright if you enjoy action more.
There are graphic sex scenes. I can't really comment on them more than that, because I'm not really a hardcore yaoi fan, so they weren't my cup of tea. However, if you are into hardcore yaoi, then you'll probably enjoy those scenes--especially since they consist of hot characters. :P
Overall, I would recommend this to someone who wants to try something a bit different for their yaoi fix.

This is an amazing series, a must have for your yaoi collection. It has beautiful art, a good amount of smut, but still maintains a quality, adventure-type story. I love when these books have developed characters, and story outside of the sex & romance.
Only problem is that the series isn't complete yet- I can't wait to read the rest!!
