| Customer Reviews: SPOILERS...Giving you a heads up..good though August 3, 2010 Ileia Smith (Warner Robins, GA) Yanagi picks up an attractive man, and spends a passionate night with him. The next morning the stranger in his bed tells him that what they did makes him sick and bolts from the room sickened. He's full of confusion and frustration... Yanagi assumes he'll never see him again and he finds out that the man he slept with is his good friend's twin brother-Arata. Bum bum bbuummmm...
Confronted, Arata refuses to accept what happened when he was drunk. Yanagi becomes angry and comes up with a scheme to make Arata his sex slave as punishment-evil I know, and so devious. Thus the drama, angst, suspense, passion, sex, and love ensue. From reader and character. Phenom book, great characters, wonderful story, evil story. Tugs at the heart and a manga you can't put down. The relationships are obsessive and complicated and fascinating.

It may start off serious, it goes on to be a little lighter on the drama later on. I'm glad there will be other volumes to let the story grow since it appears that it will show promise.
a breezily beautiful beginning March 29, 2009 lux (St. Louis, MO USA) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
While these are hardly the best of times (as we're all sick of hearing) to start a new BL imprint, Yaoi Generation definitely deserves your sales love for the first volume of "Breath". Chifumi Ochi has given breezily beautiful new life to the same-old yaoi plotline; let's call it "boy meets boy; boy me*ts boy" (or let's not - sorry!). And while the plentiful, explicit, and gracefully-drawn encounters between masterful Yanagi and fragile Arata will lead to some MAJORLY heavy breathing among fangirls, the terrific overall narrative pacing and character development also ensure reader interest in what happens to these two beyond the bedroom. In addition to a solid title selection, further kudos to Yaoi Gen for their superior translation, sleek cover design, and clean printing on quality paper (no bookmark, though - perhaps because I didn't order directly from them?). I wish them success and await Volumes 2 - 5 with bated "breath"!
Looking forward to volume two... December 28, 2008 The Yaoi Review 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
This is the very first release for the new yaoi publisher Yaoi Generation and it is a five part series. Our two main characters are Arata Kirishima and Kohshi Yanagi. We also have two side characters, one being Arata's twin brother Takashi also known as Ten, and a second side character, Akkun, the bartender. The story starts out with Ten standing up Yanagi at a local gay bar. Feeling lonely, Yanagi takes home a rather drunk stranger who wanders into the bar (and by take home I mean they go to a local "love hotel"). After a very passionate night together, the drunken stranger sobers up and leaves Yanagi on a very sour note acting as if this was something he never wanted. Imagine Yanagi's surprise when he runs into this stranger again only to find out it is his friend Ten's twin brother. So Yanagi does what any jilted one night stand would do... he blackmails him into being his permanent lover.
Volume one is really just setting up the story and only scratches the surface on any potential feelings Yanagi and Arata may be having for one another. Overall, I liked the story; especially since it is rather smutty. The characters are attractive and well drawn, although not overly manly. Ten is majorly hot and Arata in the early scenes when he is letting his hair down at the bar is quite attractive as well. The book is nicely put together and includes one color page after the cover as well as a bookmark specific to the breath series that was provided by the publisher. It is nice to get the extra touches in a time when most publishers are cutting back on the extras. The illustrations are nice and there were no issues with the translation or following the speech bubbles. As I said earlier, the sex is smutty so this is definitely a hard yaoi. There are three full sex scenes and two less involved sex scenes and they are graphic. I'm knocking the grade down on plot to a B+ only because we are too early in the series to really see where this is going so it is possible I may rate this higher with subsequent series. I still think it is worth a read as I think it has great potential and I have heard many good things about the series.

I definitely recommend this title! December 22, 2008 Qball (CA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I recently read the first volume of Breath by Chifumi Ochi and fell in love with the book as well as the yaoi genre. It was my very first yaoi manga, and boy was it good! I loved the story line and the artwork, and I think the translators and editors did a great job with it. Can't wait til volumes 2-5 to find out what happened to Yanagi and Arata!!!
