| Customer Reviews: good art, okay story September 8, 2007 spacedog (boston, ma United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
the back cover of this book says it's about a writer who writes about his friend who he's secretly in love with, but that's only one part of the book. the rest is about a manager/bartender of an upscale bar with fairly loose morals. he interacts with an underage fan of the writer and a pretty boy who everyone else wants to have. near the middle to end the book gets more focused when it starts to explore the relationship between the bartender and his co-worker when the owner drops in unexpectedly, but it's rather too little too late. there's also a story about the bartender as a high school student thown in randomly that doesn't really add anything. all in all this is a book with an interesting setup and good art that could've been a lot better with more focus.
Stories that go nowhere September 1, 2007 lore (Neverwhere) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This series of loosely connected stories (a character from the last story appears at the start of the next) is a huge let-down. The stories are each too short to develop much plot, and the sex scenes are mostly implied. So, whether you like plot or sex in your Yaoi titles, I think you'll be disappointed in this one.
Not really there! June 19, 2007 R.Parklane (Tokyo, Japan) This Yaoi started off rather ordinary with a story on a young novelist in love with his friend. Then the plot switches to the bartender whom the novelist visits and from thereon is a series of stories revolving round the bartender and the guys who visit the bar except for the last one on the bartender's much younger days. This sounded promising at first. But the stories though started off well do not really have much going on (even the sex is not revealing or tasteful enough) and a few times I was left feeling let down as the mangaka could have done more with the characters . As for the artwork, it is rather untidy and at times "over-large". There were 3 releases from Junemanga in May and "Waru" is definitely the one to get.
